Ryanair has released a statement after flights were temporarily halted yesterday. Fire crews rushed to the scene following an incident at Manchester Airport. Emergency teams were spotted at the airport on Thursday evening (March 19).

The incident involved Ryanair flight RK558 from Dublin to Manchester, which touched down just after 6pm at Terminal 3. The Manchester Evening News understands fire crews were summoned to the airport to accompany the aircraft as a precautionary measure following a ‘mechanical problem’.

Airport operations at Manchester were briefly suspended for approximately seven minutes whilst emergency services dealt with the situation. It’s understood that smoke was spotted emerging from the aircraft.

In a statement released this morning (Friday), Ryanair confirmed that a ‘minor tech issue’ had impacted the aircraft. The plane underwent inspection after passengers got off, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Pictures from the incident showed numerous emergency response vehicles positioned alongside the aircraft. The emergency response was subsequently scaled back.

A Ryanair spokesperson said: “Flight RK558 from Dublin to Manchester (March 19) experienced a minor tech issue upon landing. Passengers and crew disembarked normally, and the aircraft was towed back to stand to be inspected by Ryanair engineers.”
