The World Cup final tickets have been branded as the most expensive ever as fans suffer a “monumental betrayal” from FIFA
Football fans wanting the World Cup final in the summer with have to part with a pretty penny as prices have been revealed.
In its World Cup bid book, the USA, Canada and Mexico said tickets to the final would cost a maximum of $1,550 (£1,174). However, when tickets went on sale to members of each country’s supporters’ club, the most expensive was listed at $8,680 (£6,581).
And when Wednesday’s final sale period started, FIFA was charging up to $10,990 (£8,333) for its showpiece game. The prices of tickets were slammed by fans when they announced for supporters groups back in December.

A statement at the time from The Football Supporters’ Association’s England Fans’ Embassy said: “These prices are a slap in the face to supporters who support their team outside of the flagship tournament that appears every four years.
“A game for supporters, loyalty has been thrown out of the window and supporters of the participating nations have been completely let down.”
While one England fan vented on BBC Radio 5 Live it is “absolutely outrageous”.
He added: “It’s a big betrayal to the most dedicated fans of every nation that’s following their side at the World Cup next summer.
“We were planning on going to the group stages initially, then coming home, then flying out for the knockouts. Ideally the round of 16 but it may be too expensive. So the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final.
“However, with these ticket prices coming today, I am not sure I am going to make the knockout stages at all now.”
FIFA hasn’t released its pricing structure for the tournament , but reports suggest its using a version of dynamic pricing, whereby prices change at the start of each sales point depending on past demand.
The World Cup final tickets are reportedly the most expensive for a football match ever.
