Airport passengers will be capable to go mad fer it at new-look ‘Hacienda-style’ bar

Passengers still mad fer it will get to Step On at a Hacienda-themed bar in Manchester Airport. The Amber Alehouse has had a redesign inspired by the city’s iconic Madchester music scene.

It includes the iconic Hacienda stripes and graphics of famous Manchester music legends, such as the Happy Mondays, Oasis and Stone Roses. Passengers can also expect a vinyl soundtrack, as well as the occasional DJ “dropping live sets from time to time”.

The bar has been extended with 100 more seats as part of a £1.3billion refurbishment of the airport’s Terminal 2, which accommodates 75% of all the airport’s flights.

It will serve craft ales from local brewery Seven Bro7hers and music-themed cocktails such as the “Happy Mondays Mojito” and “New Order Negroni”.

An airport spokesman said the bar was a “love letter to Manchester’s musical heritage”.

He added: “We’ve recreated the electric atmosphere of The Haçienda right here in Terminal 2, so passengers can sip a cocktail while soaking in the vibes that made the club world-famous.

“Travellers often complain about soulless airport waits. This bar changes that – neon lights, graffiti walls, and Haçienda memorabilia will make it feel like a night out before your flight.

“We’re not recreating the wild nights, just the magic. Safe, stylish, and quintessentially Mancunian.”

The airport has not confirmed when the bar will open, but it is expected to be later this year.

Five Madchester anthems and band names inspired by the bar:

1 – Definitely Flybe

2 – Gate 08 State

3 – 24 Hour Departure People

4 – New Border

5 – Fare She Goes
