Danielle Lloyd was wrongly stripped of her Miss Great Britain title after a Playboy scandal and being accused of having an affair with a Manchester United legend judge.

Lloyd was crowned Miss England 2004 and Miss Great Britain 2006 but the glamour model was stripped of the latter. The former Celebrity Big Brother star was punished for posing for Playboy magazine and an alleged affair with Teddy Sheringham.

Sheringham, who celebrated his 60th birthday this week, was a judge on the panel but his relationship with Danielle brought the contest into disrepute. The treble-winning striker had voted for the Liverpool-born model before they reportedly got together at a party on the night of the pageant.

However, the model had dropped herself in it when she told Eve magazine that she was with the then-40-year-old for Christmas, wearing pyjamas and a pair of £7,000 Jimmy Choos stilettos he allegedly bought her as a gift.

She said: “Teddy will never forget that sight. We were still in bed when I opened my present.”

Miss Great Britain chairman Robert de Keyser said Danielle’s interview contradicted her comments that they had not known each other prior to the pageant. He also accused her of ‘distrust’ due to a Playboy advert.

He added: “The fact the Playboy website is advertising that ‘Miss GB is dropping her bra’ after denials from you that the shoot was topless creates a distrust.”

Danielle sued after the pageant organiser published a gallery of newspaper cuttings on its website, including a Mirror front page reading: “Miss Cheat Britain! Miss GB is sacked for fibbing about fling with Judge Teddy”.

She claimed the publication of the newspaper front page had a defamatory meaning that she had ‘cheated’ her way to the title. A libel settlement between Danielle and Miss Great Britain Ltd was agreed.

Danielle had her title reinstated at a later date as she was named the joint winner with Preeti Desai by Miss GB organiser Liz Fuller. She told The Sun: “The contest is part of Danielle’s history, and ours. There was no management or guidance afterwards and she ended up in Playboy.

“If there was a management structure behind Miss Great Britain, she could have chosen a different route.”

Danielle reflected on her ordeal to The Guardian: “I got my big break when I won Miss Great Britain in 2006. It was a real shame what happened after that. It was really upsetting to be on the front page of the paper being called a cheat.

“I was accused of seeing Teddy Sheringham, who was one of the judges, before the competition. That was totally false. I never even knew who Teddy was before the competition.

“I lived in Liverpool and I didn’t know much about celebrities; that wasn’t my kind of lifestyle. It was only my mum who put me up for the competition in the first place.

“I was sued by Miss Great Britain but in the end I was cleared of doing anything wrong and they settled out of court.”
