The Daily Star says that there’s a reason horse racing has been so popular for generations. This weekend’s action, combined with the football and golf, will spark a betting bonanza
Horse racing really is one of life’s greatest pleasures. There’s a reason why it’s been such a popular sport in this country for generations.
The drama, the excitement and the sheer euphoria it creates are like nothing else. Those final moments when it looks like anything could happen are what keep fans coming back time and time again. You can’t beat it.
Fortunately, racing lovers don’t have long to wait to do it all over again as the Grand National is nearly upon us. It’s the biggest day of the racing calendar and one that many people will have been counting down the days to.
The action starts on Thursday when the three-day Aintree festival gets under way. This year looks like it’ll be even bigger and better than ever.
Bonanza
It’s one of those unique events where people from all walks of life rub shoulders with each other and soak up the atmosphere – regardless of where they’ve come from or who they are.
We need more of that if we want to live in a country where we’re at ease with ourselves.
The Grand National itself also happens to coincide with two monster sporting events, as the Masters and potential Premier League decider matches are taking place over the weekend too. Sports fans are well and truly spoilt for choice.
The combination of all three is set to spark a billion pound betting bonanza too. Bookies are bracing themselves for a bashing as revellers prepare to enjoy a flutter.
You couldn’t blame them for having a long face by the end of it!
