Several Democratic lawmakers are questioning President Donald Trump’s mental acuity and fitness for office after his “unhinged” threats against Iran’s energy infrastructure on Easter morning. Some lawmakers went so far as to suggest Trump needed to be removed from office via the 25th Amendment.
On Sunday morning, Trump posted on Truth Social that he would attack Iran if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened within 48 hours.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran,” Trump wrote. “There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.”
Democrats in Washington responded by questioning the president’s fitness to lead:
Along with establishing the presidential line of succession, the 25th Amendment allows for the removal of a sitting president who is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.
