Cricket fans are being invited to work at the “Oval Office” that boasts desks with a pitch view.

Surrey County Cricket Club is offering a unique “work from home” alternative at plush new offices at its iconic Kia Oval ground in Lambeth, south London.

The invite comes following upgrades to the stadium this year that also includes ultrafast Wifi. Desks are positioned to provide premium views of the pitch, allowing workers to watch matches while working with food and drink on hand.

A statement from the club on social media said: “The best home office in the country? We’ve upgraded our WiFi over the winter and there are terraces around the ground with pitch views and desk access.

“See you there and we won’t tell your boss.”

One fan said “there are worse ideas” while another said: “Love this. ‘Working from home’.”

A third said: “Better than the American Oval Office.”

In his start of the season message, CEO Steve Elworthy said: “With summer just around the corner, the time is nearly here to open the doors of the Kia Oval, as we welcome you back to your second home, right here in the heart of Kennington.

“The first day of the home season is among my favourites in the cricket calendar. It is a day filled with anticipation, excitement, and hope, as we wish the best to our brilliant squads, who will be competing for silverware on all fronts.

“Matching the off-season preparations of our men’s and women’s squads, our incredible staff have been hard at work throughout the winter, looking after our world-class facilities as well as making improvements that will continue to help us deliver the finest of match-day experiences for you all.”

The county cricket season started on April 3 and will run until September 27.
