This book definitely got judged by its cover. A mum’s mugshot sparked outrage as she is facing a child neglect charge after deputies said her baby formula was contaminated with methamphetamine.

Upon her arrest, the mugshot of Jalyn Brownworth, 32, from Florida, USA, ignited heated debate on social media. In her booking photograph, Brownworth’s multiple face tattoos were clearly shown, including script above her eyebrows, a crown near her hairline, and a red rose on her left cheek.

Her somber expression while looking directly into the camera further displayed her neck tattoo, a large, intricate black-ink piece covering the majority of her neck, extending from just under her chin down toward her collarbone.

Alachua County authorities allege that Jalyn Brownworth, 32, mixed the formula using water she had previously used to rinse needles. On social media, people were quick to express their fury as a Facebook user commented: “From the face tattoos who could have guessed she’d [have] been a bad mother?”

A person wrote: “She looks like exactly the kind of person who would do this. To a tee.”

Someone else penned: “Look at her! Surprised?”

A separate individual chimed in: “And they say Don’t Judge a Book by its Cover.” Alachua County authorities in Florida reportedly allege that Brownworth mixed her baby formula using water she had previously used to rinse needles.

The child was taken to hospital, where staff confirmed the baby had been exposed to meth, WSFA reported. Officials said the child was in a stable condition and recovering.

Brownworth was arrested and booked into the Alachua County Jail. She is charged with child neglect and was being held on a $20,000 (£14,900) bond.

The disturbing crime comes just a month after Judith Addison, 79, was accused of letting a one-year-old toddler drink meth. She then appeared to be laughing in her disturbing mugshot following her arrest.

Addison acting as baby-sitter when a bag of methamphetamine was reported to have found its way into a “sippy cup” that was being drunk from by the child, the Daily Star previously reported. Unsurprisingly, the one-year-old, who has not been named for legal reasons, is reported to have quickly fallen ill.

Neither Addison nor the child’s parents elected to call for help. Despite ingesting a possibly lethal quantity of the substance, it was only when the child began vomiting uncontrollably that they went to the local fire department, at which point the toddler was rushed to hospital “for treatment of a possible overdose”.
