Man dies after suspected poisoning in Leicester park as 41-year-old arrested

A 41-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of administering poison and released on bail as police investigate the incident in Queen’s Road, Leicester

A man has died following an alleged poisoning incident on a UK high street. Leicestershire Police revealed that shortly before 1.45pm on Saturday (11 April), they received a report that a man had fallen ill at an address in the Clarendon Park area.

The incident prompted a substantial emergency services response. Queen’s Road was shut down with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service attending the scene.

Officers confirmed the man received treatment from paramedics at the location and was rushed to hospital, but passed away shortly afterwards.

Following preliminary investigations by officers, a 41 year old man was detained on suspicion of administering poison. He has subsequently been released on bail, reports Leicestershire Live.

Police confirmed their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.
