A person tragically lost their life after falling onto the Tube tracks in West London yesterday afternoon (April 13). Emergency services rushed to North Ealing station at 4.20pm following reports of an injured individual.

The British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed in a statement earlier today that the person sadly died at the scene. Their age and gender have not been disclosed. The incident is not being viewed as suspicious, the force added. A report will now be compiled for the coroner ahead of an inquest.

Travel on the Piccadilly line was halted between Acton Town and Uxbridge while police cordoned off the platforms. The service has since resumed normal operation.

A spokesperson for BTP stated: “Officers were called to North Ealing Underground station at 4.20pm on Monday 13 April following reports of a casualty on the tracks.”, reports MyLondon.

“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

It comes after at least one person was killed with 30 injured after a train hit a truck at a crossing in France on April 7.

The horror collision has resulted in the train driver losing his life, according to reports by French publication TF1INFO. The accident occurred at a level crossing when a TGV train traveling on the Dunkirk-Paris line collided with a truck in Noeux-les-Mines (Pas-de-Calais).

The TGV train was carrying approximately 250 passengers when the crash caused it to derail on the Béthune-Arras line, which is currently still closed. The truck driver has also suffered serious injuries. Earlier reports said 27 people had been injured but the local mayor Laurent Poissant confirmed the figure is at least 30.

Federal Secretary SUD Rail Fabien Villedieu posted images from the horror crash as well as provided an update on the incident.
