In a phone interview with Sky News, US President Donald Trump has claimed the UK is being “invaded” by people from prisons, drug dealers and mental institutions
Donald Trump has hit out at Sir Keir Starmer once again and stated their “special relationship” has “been better”.
The US President repeated comments on the UK’s immigration policy in his interview with Sky News’ Mark Stone. Trump told him the UK is being “invaded” by people from prisons, drug dealers and mental institutions.
In the conversation, which Trump asked not to be broadcast, The President continued his unhappiness over the UK not joining the the conflict in Iran.
He said: “How is the relationship? It’s the relationship where: when we asked them for help, they were not there. When we needed them, they were not there. When we didn’t need them, they were not there. And they still aren’t there.”
Stone said he pushed back on Trump over fake news on immigration to which the US President said he had been “accurate”.
His conversation with Sky News also went on to King Charles’ visit to the US in which he described the monarch as “a great gentleman”, “a great friend of mine” and “a fantastic person”.
Buckingham Palace announced details of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s historic four-day trip to America, where they will spend the first day of the visit in Washington with the US President.
Trump also spoke about the UK’s “tragic mistake” over the North Sea, echoing comments he made on Truth Social yesterday (April 14).
Trump has took a swipe at the UK for failing to exploit North Sea oil as he urged the country to “drill, baby, drill”.
Writing on his Truth Social platform, the US president said: “Europe is desperate for Energy, and yet the United Kingdom refuses to open North Sea Oil, one of the greatest fields in the World. Tragic!!! Aberdeen should be booming. Norway sells its North Sea Oil to the U.K. at double the price.
“They are making a fortune. U.K., which is better situated on the North Sea for purposes of energy than Norway, should, DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!! It is absolutely crazy that they don’t… AND, NO MORE WINDMILLS! President DJT.”
Trump also hit out at out at Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni after she called the US President’s comments on Pope Leo “unacceptable”.
In an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, Trump said: “I’m shocked by her. I thought she had courage. I was wrong.”
