Lebanon and Israel have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, US President Donald Trump said – this is a breaking story
Lebanon and Israel have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, Donald Trump said, claiming that the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah will be the 10th war he solves.
The ceasefire is due to formally begin at 5pm EST (10pm BST), the US president said, adding that he held talks with his Lebanese counterpart Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu. He claims both countries agreed to the truce after meeting in Washington, D.C. for the first time in 34 years, alongside US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Trump said he has instructed Rubio, Vice-President JD Vance and Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine to work with Israel and Lebanon to “achieve a Lasting PEACE”. He claimed he has previously solved “nine wars across the world” and that this would be his tenth peace deal.
