Premier League cult hero Paolo Di Canio bust his head open after repatedly headbutting the studio desk during a back and forth with an Italian TV presenter
A Premier League cult hero stunned his fellow studio guests during Wednesday evenings coverage of the Champions League when he started to headbutt the desk.
Former West Ham star Paolo Di Canio is a regular on Sky Sports over in his native Italy, and he was back on TV screens to cover Arsenal vs Sporting Lisbon and Real Madrid’s trip to Bayern Munich.
And when discussing the matches, Di Canio was going back and forth with the show’s host Federica Masolin, when the 57-year-old showed a glimpse of his hot-headed former self as he started to bang his head against the desk.

Di Canio, however, managed to bust himself open, and ex-England boss Fabio Capello was forced to come to the rescue by handing the former Prem star some tissues.
Federica seemed to be used to his outburst, and giggled in the corner rather than showing any sort of concern. Unsurprisingly, the clip went viral on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Nothing to see here, only Paolo Di Canio cracking his head in blood on the desk during post match Champions just over a football debate, as a demonstration of frustration,” one fan joked.
“I thought this guy would’ve calmed down after he retired,” a second said. As a third replied: “Goldberg is proud!”
“English speakers: Deep analysis with Henry talking about high lines, inverted positions, number nine movements Most normal Italian TV moment,” a fourth responded.
While a fifth laughed: “One of the last great lunatics!”
And another added, referencing the wild world of professional wrestling: “A real worker getting colour the hard way, none of this carny blade job nonsense…”
