A Brit has been battling dental despair after cosmetic surgery in Turkey went horrible wrong leaving him with no teeth and unable to eat solid foods due to being left toothless
A dad who wanted to “turn back time” and fix his teeth has been left unable to eat after his new teeth fell out of his mouth while he was laughing.
Jon Denton was forced to have his front teeth removed after he was the victim of a serious accident in 2020 – resulting in the dad breathing down a medical tube and struggling to eat solid foods.
The accident resulted in Jon being forced to wear metal fixations leading to the start of his dental issues as his teeth started to “crumble” and “decay” as a result. Due to his teeth decaying away, Jon was unable to brush them properly or eat and was forced to cut his food up “like a child.”
In a bid to get a new set of pearly whites the dad visited a dentist who quoted him a jaw dropping £30,000 for treatment. Due to the treatment being outside of his budget the Jon, from Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, started to look abroad for other options.
After finding a treatment for £3,500 in Turkey, Jon flew out to find himself a new smile and came back to the UK with 14 implants fitted in his mouth. However after coming home Jon realised something wasn’t right as he was battling “excruciating” pain after the operation.
Only days after returning to the UK Jon revealed his bottom teeth fell out when he “laughed while sitting on the sofa.” To make matters worse in March Jon flew back to Turkey and instead of fixing his dental issues the dentist then removed all his implants while he was under sedation. The operation left Jon toothless.
Sadly the fella is now no longer able to eat soft food and is regretting his trip to Turkey entirely. Recounting the incident, Jon said after the operation in Turkey he remembered “waking up and there was nothing [no teeth] there.”
He added: “Other than the front one that was a bit sore, all the rest of the teeth were solid. There was no need to remove them all. It was a shock to find they were all removed. [When I got home] for a couple of days I just locked myself away.
“I was in a better position before going to Turkey than I am now.
“It was my partner’s birthday the other day and I tried to eat a bit of cake, which was soft, and I couldn’t. I know some people have gone to Turkey and got absolutely brilliant teeth but it’s not the case for me.”
“It’s the worst thing I’ve ever been through, I wish I could turn back time.[Before going to Turkey], I got used to covering my mouth when I talked to people and not smiling.”
The distressed dad said he was then offered the option of paying to have dentures fitted by the clinic or to get a partial refund of £2,700. Jon has opted for the latter. Currently, Jon is fundraising to generate the cash needed to have his dental issues come to an end and has started a GoFundMe page.
Jon is worried about his dental issues affecting his relationship and other aspects of his life. The bloke revealed: “If I don’t sort this out, It’s going to ruin my relationship.
“I wake up in a foul mood everyday and I don’t want to go to work which is affecting my bills and income. The amount of pain I have gone through, I’ve got to go through it all again.”
Experts have warned against people jetting off abroad for cosmetic surgery due to the risks of botched or unsuccessful surgeries.
In 2024 alone 196,000 Brits visited Turkey for medical treatments according to the Office for National Statistics. Since 2019 at least 35 Brits have died in Turkey after deciding to go under the knife for cosmetic treatment.
