WrestleMania leads to full as Brock Lesnar ‘retires’ and Roman Reigns beats CM Punk

Brock Lesnar ‘retired’ and Roman Reigns regained the World Heavyweight Championship in an action-packed night two of WrestleMania. The Tribal Chief finally got his hands raised after a mammoth 30 minute match with his arch rival CM Punk.

The two superstars battled out a brutal main event which saw a bloodied CM Punk battered on the outside of the ring and thrown through the Spanish announce table.

Both men hit their finishers and signature moves in a back and forth match that came to and end when Punk hit his GTS finisher Reigns, who fell on his shoulders. But when Punk tried to hit a second in quick succession, he collapsed.

A prone Punk was then hit with a brutal spear, but kicked out at two. Reigns then smashed into the battered Punk with another spear to win the match clean for his seventh world title reign.

The night kicked off with a huge shock as Oba Femi pinned Brock Lesnar clean in the middle of the ring. The veteran then stunned fans by removing his boots and gloves and leaving them in the middle of the ring.

The move is seen in the wrestling business as a sign of retirement and he fuelled retirement rumours by hugging Paul Heyman in the ring as fans chanted “Thank you Brock”.

Later, commentator Michael Cole said Brock Lesnar “seemingly” said goodbye to the WWE Universe, adding “if that’s the end” then he says thank you.

Penta then retained his Intercontinental Championship in a chaotic ladder match against Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee, Je’Von Evans, Rusev and JD McDonagh.

Everyone took huge bumps during the 15 minute bout which ended when Penta scaled the ladder and retrieved his title to leave Las Vegas still the Intercontinental Champion.

Trick Williams then beat Sami Zayn to become United States Champion after help from music sensation Lil Yachty, who was in his corner.

Finn Balor then beat Dominik Mysterio in a street fight. The Irishman donned his Demon gimmick for the first time in a few years and sent the fans wild when he got the win.

He ended the brutal but brief street fight by hitting a Coup de Grace through a table. He then covered a battered Dominik to win by pinfall after 10 minutes.

However, some fans felt the match was a bit short, with one social media user fuming: “I saw the entrances and the beginning, had to go get my kids to bed, I come back and the match is over!”

The roof blew off off the Allegiant Stadium when Rhea Ripley pinned Jade Cargill to win the Women’s Championship. The Aussie star got the win a few false finishes and outside interference.

After that match, The Miz interrupted WrestleMania host John Cena, then Danhausen entered the ring for a bizarre comedic skit before finally, mercifully, the main event.
