Footage posted on social media appeared to show some of the Blues away support at the Amex Stadium loudly chanting ‘F*** off Rosenior’ while pointing at their manager
Chelsea fans were filmed aiming a brutal sweary chant at manager Liam Rosenior as their side slumped to a 3-0 defeat away at Brighton. Footage posted on X appeared to show some of the Blues away support at the Amex Stadium loudly chanting “F*** off Rosenior” while pointing at the manager as he stood on the touchline.
The manager, who in the video can be seen facing the away end with his hands in his pockets, described the performance as “unacceptable” in a post match interview, adding that he and his players needed to “look in the mirror” before their FA cup clash with rivals Leeds on Sunday.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “It’s unacceptable in every aspect of the game. [the players were] unacceptable in their attitude.”
“I keep coming out and defending the players, but that’s indefensible that performance tonight: the amount of goals we conceded, the amount of duels we lost.
“Something needs to change drastically… We need to look in the mirror, I need to look in the mirror.”
Some Chelsea fans on X took to defend their manager in light of the X-rated chants calling it ‘brutal’, with one user writing: “Why are they saying that to him?
Adding: “The board chose the strategy to only have young players and decided to sack Maresca rather than back him”.
The defeat to Brighton is Chelsea’s and Rosenior’s fifth consecutive league defeat, all of which have come with the Blues not scoring a goal.
Rumours had already swirled regarding the future of the Rosenior’s tenure at the club, with a statement Blues co-owner Behdad Eghbali fuelling speculation with what many viewed as a less than confident attitude towards the manager.
Eghbali said: “On Liam [Rosenior], we had the opportunity to work with him daily for 18 plus months, so we knew what we were getting,” he added.
“We think he has every attribute to be successful here. He got off to a great start. We’ve had a tough past five, six matches, but I think we’re behind Liam. Of course, it’s a results business, but we think he can be successful long term.”
Rosenior was appointed Chelsea manager in 6 January 2026, taking over from Enzo Maresca and signing a long-term contract that runs until 2032.
