The La Liga match between Barcelona and Celta Vigo was stopped due to reported of an emergency in the crowd as both sets of players left the pitch as police officers were seen in the stands at the Nou Camp
A major football game had to be halted after officials were alerted to concerns in the crowd with reports of a medical emergency.
Barcelona were taking on Celta Vigo in the La Liga game at the Nou Camp when officials made both sets of players make their way off the pitch to worrying scenes in the crowd on Wednesday (April 22).
Reports suggest paramedics and police were seen in the crowd with one fan reportedly falling ill. The condition of the fan is currently unknown but they were reportedly carried out of the crowd for further treatment.
Both sets of concerned fans showed a sign of respect as they broke out in applause as the individual was taken out of the stadium.
Lamine Yamal was injured while converting a penalty as fears now grow over his condition for the World Cup this summer.
Yamal scored Barcelona’s first goal in the 40th minute and immediately looked to the bench and signalled that he was hurt.
He dropped to the ground as his teammates arrived to celebrate, then appeared to grab the back of his left leg.
Yamal left the field on his own after being attended by doctors. He talked briefly with coach Hansi Flick on the sidelines before walking into the locker-room tunnel by himself.
The 18-year-old Yamal is set to make his World Cup debut with Spain in June. Yamal was reportedly in tears, according to reports.
At the time of writing, the second half has just got back underway after a large amount of injury time was added on during the first half due to the medical emergency.
