Scott Mullen, 32, was found guilty of possessing despicable child sexual images after he was discovered with a childlike sex doll, despite trying to prove his innocence with a bogus edited doc
A grim paedophile has been thrown in prison after he was discovered with a childlike sex doll as well as horrific child sexual abuse videos following a tip-off from a member of public.
Scott Mullen, 32, had tried to avoid jail time for the despicable crime, going as far as to present the court with a falsified document claiming to be from a company that provides cyber investigations. The bogus doc, which was made to look like it came from a real and reputable company, stated that Mullen had not downloaded the illicit material on purpose, and that he was innocent of wrongdoing, according to reports.
Mullen, who represented himself at Swansea Crown Court, initially pleaded guilty to the horrific crimes but changed his plea after submitting the document.
Mullen’s handiwork in faking the document was not able to fool the prosecution, and the Newport man once again changed his plea to guilty, according to the South Wales Argus.
Mullen, who was already a convicted sex offender having been handed a a community order in 2017 for having indecent images of children, was sentenced to an eight-year extended sentence after he was found to be in possession of 23 category A indecent images, the most serious rating used in UK law.
He was also found to have 18 images rated category B and 95 category C.
Jude Geraint Walters condemned Mullen for trying to trick the court by falsifying documents, calling the act “planned and sophisticated.”
He added: “These are real children being abused by sick adults.”
He added: “Your pre-sentence report makes for depressing reading.
“It comes to the inevitable conclusion that you are a dangerous offender and that you present a high risk of committing further serious offences.”
Mullen will spend three years behind bars and then be on a license period for the next five years which will see him supervised by authorities.
He will also be required to register as a sex offender for life and be made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order too.
