A Reform candidate who has met Nigel Farage is an Oswald Mosley fan, we can reveal.

Andrew Mahon, pictured shaking hands with the Reform leader, backed the infamous fascist leader. The councillor wannabe, standing in Blackburn in next month’s local elections, has also posted in support of Enoch Powell. Mahon, 64, wrote on Facebook: “Oswald was right 100%… we need an educational correction in the U.K. Powell and Moseley were correct, multiculturism [sic] has failed, it has been an unmitigated disaster.”

Joe Mulhall, Director of Research at Hope Not Hate, which uncovered the December 2024 Facebook post, said: “Reform candidates expressing extreme views is unfortunately unsurprising, but it’s nevertheless shocking to see one supporting Britain’s most notorious fascist leader.

“Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists was a virulently antisemitic movement and in 1936 Adolf Hitler was a guest of honour at his second wedding, held in secret in Nazi Germany. Mosley was imprisoned in 1940, following the outbreak of the Second World War, after which he became a leading voice in Holocaust. Saying Mosley ‘was right’ reveals just how extreme this candidate is.”

In response to a user who replied to his Mosley and Powell post, Mahon claimed: “I think that there has to be a recognition that integration in the U.K. has not happened in the way successive Politicians of all persuasions believed it would. Something is going and has gone very wrong in the U.K. in terms of integration. This is “NOT” a racist argument, it is however sadly a fact, by not facing up to the failure of integration in the U.K. Politicians have and still are adding to the problems.”

Powell was sacked from the Tory shadow cabinet in the late 1960s over his notorious Rivers of Blood speech. In August, Mahon wrote: “Enoch Powell was 100% correct, the only things that he did not know about or could foresee is Muslim terrorists blowing up Arenas in the U.K.” He liked a user’s comment who said in reply “Rivers of blood”.

The revelations over Mahon’s posts come after the Lancashire Telegraph reported he made other social media comments including use of the ‘n’ word, as well as being sexist and offensive about a female Green MP.

Earlier this month, Mahon posted a picture of him alongside Farage, adding: “Mr Farage wished me good luck in the local elections. Vote Reform on May 7th.” Mahon’s campaign literature boasts: “I’m passionately patriotic, always have been. I can’t sit back any more I want to stand up in the town hall and represent thousands of disheartened and unhappy residents.”

Asked about Mahon’s Mosley and Powell comments, Reform said it was “investigating the allegations”. Mahon was contacted for comment. It comes after we last week revealed how a Reform candidate who met King Charles posted a series of “stomach-churning” anti-Muslim comments.

And we told how a Reform Senedd candidate in Wales peddled a Covid conspiracy theory – and even branded the late Queen a “fraud” who should be overthrown. Meanwhile, the Mirror also exposed a one-time Reform elections campaigner, whose tanning salon was visited by Farage, for praising Adolf Hitler.
