A college lecturer was boxed in by police responding to reports of “dead bodies in the back seat” of his car. Luke Orchard was driving along Castle Gate Island in Dudley when officers surrounded him.

The 38-year-old Dudley College tutor spoke of his ordeal after cops discovered the skeleton props he was transporting. He utilises the props as educational aids and during performances with his group Tumanduumband.

He revealed to the BBC that he was taken aback to spot several police vehicles on Saturday, April 18, assuming something was ‘happening nearby’. Luke was blasting music at full volume at the time, he explained, and it took a moment before he realised he was being surrounded, reports Birmingham Live.

Speaking to the broadcaster, he said: “I pulled over again and then they boxed me in and it was me that they were after. They all got out and surrounded my car; asked me who I was and where I was going.

“When I asked what was wrong, they said somebody had reported a car driving around with two dead bodies, then it all clicked.

“I am that used to having them [the model skeletons] in the car that I’d forgotten it was a thing.”

Luke mentioned he felt ‘shaken up’ following the incident but subsequently found the whole experience ‘really funny’.

He now intends to conceal the models while travelling in his motor – despite using them to deter potential car thieves, he explained.

West Midlands Police confirmed to the BBC they’d received a call from a worried member of the public, with officers verifying the skeletons were merely props.
