A large emergency presence and a bomb disposal unit were spotted on Dixon Avenue in the Govanhill area on Thursday afternoon, with two pupils from Holyrood Secondary School reportedly injured
Two Glasgow pupils have been rushed to hospital after a group reportedly hurled fireworks at one another.
A major emergency response and a bomb disposal team were seen on Dixon Avenue in the Govanhill district on Thursday afternoon (April 23).
Two students from Holyrood Secondary School were allegedly hurt during the incident and have been transported to hospital.
A witness claimed to have seen pupils allegedly launching fireworks on the street.
Images and video of the scene shared with Glasgow Live show fire appliances, police and a bomb disposal truck on the scene at around 2pm this afternoon.
Another witness told Galsgow Live: “I left my flat on Dixon Road to see two fire engines, multiple police cars a large bomb disposal truck, what looked like a bomb disposal robot and multiple persons in army uniforms.
“All surrounding multiple houses on Dixon Avenue.”
A Glasgow council spokesperson said: “We’re aware of an incident that took place out of the school premises this afternoon.
“As a result of the incident, two pupils were injured and have been taken to hospital for assessment.
“We are working with the appropriate authorities as enquiries continue.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On Thursday, 23 April, at 1.44pm, we received a call to support partner agencies at an incident on Dixon Avenue, Glasgow.
“Two fire appliances were mobilised to the area, and crews remain in attendance.”
