Christopher Faulkner is fighting for his life in hospital after the horror crash

The family of a young lad fighting for his life after a devastating road traffic accident have pleaded for prayers as he battles to survive. The weekend smash has already taken the life of a teenage victim.

Christopher Faulkner, aged 10, remains in a critical condition following a horrific crash in Co Antrim. Communities throughout Limerick and Tipperary, where the youngster hails from, have rallied together to back his family during this tragedy.

The child is a cousin of Limerick mother Scarlett Faulkner, who died earlier this month at CUH after a vicious assault. Her brother Jason Faulkner passed away just days after her funeral.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the Belfast Road, which occurred shortly before 8am on Sunday, April 26. The crash involved a black Volkswagen Golf and a silver Volkswagen Passat.

The Golf’s driver has since been arrested by the PSNI on multiple driving-related charges.

A teenage passenger in the Passat, named locally as 16-year-old Callum Hutchinson from Co Tipperary, sadly lost his life at the scene, while Christopher was rushed to hospital, where his condition remains critical.

A prayer vigil is set to take place this evening at St Lelia’s Church in Limerick, with the aim of offering prayers for Christopher’s recovery and for Callum’s soul.

A large turnout is expected as a show of unity with both families and the wider Traveller community during this difficult time. The vigil is scheduled for 6.30 pm, according to Cork Beo.

Family and friends of the Faulkner family have flooded social media, pleading for prayers and support following the tragic accident. One individual described the family as being “just crushed.”, reports Belfast Live.

She posted: “The Faulkner family are just crushed and broken. Please let Christopher and the other lads involved in this horrific crash survive their injuries, and may the other young lad, Callum, rest in peace. My sincere condolences to this poor family also.”

Another message implored people to pray for the Faulkner family: “Please everybody pray and share this around with everybody, the more prayers the better, he really needs them.”
