Glasgow pensioner stabbed inside automobile after man seen ‘working round with a sword’

A pensioner has been “stabbed” while inside a vehicle. Armed police officers dashed to Auckland Wynd in the east end of Glasgow at 12.10pm on Tuesday, April 28.

The 77-year-old man was swiftly taken to hospital following the severe assault. His condition remains unconfirmed. An eyewitness reported seeing “a man running around with a sword” in the Dalmarnock area.

Officers are still present in the area as investigations into the incident continue. One onlooker informed Glasgow Live that the area was sealed off by police this afternoon, near the Emirates Arena.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated: “Around 12.10pm on Tuesday, 28 April, 2026, we received a report of a serious assault within a vehicle on Auckland Wynd in Glasgow.”

“Emergency services attended and a 77-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

“Police, including armed officers, remain in the area as enquiries are ongoing.”
