PSG and Bayern Munich put on the show of all shows at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday evening as fans hailed it as the “real Champions League final”.

It was a goalfest as the two European heavyweights went blow-for-blow from the opening exchanges of the clash. Harry Kane, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Joao Neves, Michael OIise and Ousmane Dembélé all found the net in whirlwind first-half.

While Dembélé and Kvaratskhelia both completed a brace in the second period with the clash seemingly going the way of PSG. However, Bayern rallied as Dayot Upamecano and Luis Diaz cut the advantage to one goal in a three minute period.

The Parisian giants were able to hold onto a one goal advantage heading into the second leg following an instant all-time European classic.

And for some English football fans on social media, they joked it’s going to be difficult to go back and watch the Premier League: “Can’t lie Prem is actually mid cause look at this beauty. Nine goals!”

“What have we been watching in the Prem bro… This game just makes you wonder if you’re not a football fan what are you even doing,” a second said. As a third shared: “Bayern and PSG both play how football use to be played!”

And another added: “This is ridiculous. Best football I’ve watched for years. There’s no team in England that are on the same level as these. Said for a while that there’s no ‘superstars’ in the Prem now really…”

Alan Shearer, who was on co-commentary duty, hailed the clash as the best game of football he had ever seen.

Champions League football will continue on Wednesday evening with the Premier League’s last team in action.
