Weather maps show the UK is set to be hit by a ‘mini-heatwave’ with temperatures soaring to highs of 24C just in time for the Bank Holiday weekend – and the warm weather is likely to last for several days
Britain is poised to bask in a sweltering ‘mini heatwave’ as parts of the nation are expected to witness temperatures climbing to peaks of 24C. Based on the most recent weather charts, the balmy conditions are anticipated to arrive in the UK on Friday, May 1 as Brits prepare for the Bank Holiday weekend.
WXCharts maps have shifted to yellow, signalling the potential for milder weather to sweep across the nation. A “mini-heatwave” is classified when temperatures exceed 20C, particularly during periods when such warmth wouldn’t typically be anticipated, while a “heatwave” occurs above 25C.
The charts reveal that even regions in northern parts of Britain will encounter temperatures in the upper teens. Districts surrounding Aberdeen are forecast to see the mercury climb to 20C, according to the maps.
Meanwhile, areas near London are set to enjoy the most pleasant conditions with temperature readings reaching 24C, reports the Express.
The Met Office’s weather forecast for Thursday to Saturday states: “Plenty of sunshine Thursday, after a grey start. Perhaps a few more showers developing on Friday, otherwise staying warm and sunny. These becoming more numerous come Saturday.”
Nick Finnis from Netweather.tv noted in his most recent weather analysis: “Largely dry and sunny on Thursday, though still a strong easterly wind in the south.
“An area of low pressure looks to drift north just to the southwest of Ireland later in the week, this could introduce some showers across the far southwest of England, southwest Wales and Ireland on Thursday, then perhaps a wider chance of scattered showers across western on Friday, but some uncertainty on this.”
“Eastern areas of the UK staying largely dry and sunny on Friday and warmer too, with the easterly wind turning southeasterly or southerly by then.”
