White House Mocks Dem Lawmaker’s Looks, Days After Calls To Tone Down Rhetoric

The White House on Monday appeared to take a page out of the playbook of Donald Trump ― who has a long history of making demeaning comments about women ― when its social media account mocked a Democratic congresswoman’s appearance.

The jab came after Trump-appointed Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin shared footage on X of his heated exchange with Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) over climate change.

The official White House account’s message said: “Terrible take. Even worse hair.”

DeLauro, who is known for her signature streaks of dyed hair, has not yet publicly responded to the post.

The comment was predictably lapped up by Donald Trump’s supporters who responded with yet more personal attacks on the lawmaker.

It drew backlash, though, from critics who noted how the president and his MAGA allies in recent days have called for political rhetoric to be toned down following the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
