I’m pleased to announce that I’ve become an unlikely (and unqualified) chocolate reviewer, so please validate me by reading my thoughts about Kinder’s new Chilled range for Daily Star
Am I a food expert? No. Do I like chocolate? Yes. Definitely yes.
The Kinder chocolate wizards have conjured up two new additions to its Chilled range in the UK: Kinder Chocofresh and Kinder Maxi King. You’ll find them in the Sainbury’s chilled aisle alongside Kinder’s current offerings: Kinder Pingui and Kinder Milk Slice.
And yours truly got to try out these rather delicious choccy treats from Ferrero on company time. You can watch me stuffing my face in front of my colleagues and providing really insightful feedback about it on Daily Star’s TikTok here.
First up was the Kinder Milk Slice, which I found to be a pretty pleasant spongey experience. You’ve got a sweet, milky filling with a hint of honey wedged in between two dutiful, rectangular slabs of sponge.
Nice! Hard to dislike it really but I was left wanting more. I’m looking for a bit more sugary action, and maybe, just maybe, I’ll find that in the next two items. Stay tuned and keep reading, otherwise I’ll cry.
I’m going to give it a 5/10. Past Sam gave it a 6/10 but feuding with a past incarnation of me just feels a bit too sci-fi for a chocolate review, know what I mean?
Next up, the Kinder Maxi King, which takes us on a delightfully sweet rollercoaster ride from crunch to wafer to goo. Bite through the chocolate and hazelnut coating and into the wafer, and you’ll find the real prize which is the irresistable caramel filling in the centre. Worth the wait.
I’m going to agree with past Sam and give this a 7/10.
It was going well, I was having fun, but little did I know that the best was still yet to come. Enter: Kinder Chocofresh.
My divine Kinder chocolate champion has entered the arena. I love a Kinda Bueno bar as much as the next man, and I think the Chocofresh is kind of like Bueno’s chilled out (get it) cousin. Both winners, both irresistable chocolate treats.
I described it as “superb” in the review but I think I need to go further and say it is equisite. A triumph of a treat. It’s got to be a 9/10.
The Kinder Chocofresh is £2.86 and the Kinder Maxi King is £1.80 (MRRP).
