A suspected fresh Banksy piece has attracted crowds to central London.

The sculpture has emerged on a plinth in Waterloo Place, depicting a suited figure striding towards the edge, his view blocked by a billowing flag.

Banksy’s trademark signature is carved into the rear of the plinth, although the artist has yet to verify the work via any official accounts or social media platforms.

This follows an investigation that claimed to have revealed the ‘true’ identity of the Bristol-based artist.

Banksy is allegedly a pen name for Robin Gunningham, who legally changed his name to David Jones, reports the Mirror.

Reuters news agency stated they scrutinised what Banksy and his associates have revealed about his identity, spoke with a dozen insiders and specialists from the Banksy world, and uncovered previously unreported US court documents and police files in their bid to expose the artist.

His longstanding solicitor, Mark Stephens, informed Reuters that Banksy “does not accept that many of the details contained within your enquiry are correct.”

It was further alleged that he requested Reuters refrain from publishing the report, arguing it would breach the artist’s privacy, disrupt his work and place him at risk.
