Footballers were forced to get behind and push an ambulance when it got stuck on a waterlogged pitch en-route to treat a player who had suffered a horrific double leg break
Footballers were spotted pushing an ambulance across a football pitch when it got stuck due to waterlogged conditions.
Disaster struck in the Romanian second division during a clash between Bihor Oradea and Voluntari on Thursday evening.
Razvan Gunie smashed into Alexandru Git, leaving the Voluntari star with a reported double leg break in horrific scenes, as he was screaming and writing in pain on the turf.
An ambulance quickly made its way onto the pitch to provide treatment for the downed player, but got stuck in the mud due to a water-logged surface.
The vehicle had already needed a push as it made its way onto the grass from the other end, but once Git had been boarded onto the back of it, it became completely stuck.
That left players and staff putting their bodyweight into the back of the van to try to get it on its way.
A group of around 10 were also spotted following it as it made its way back across the pitch and out of the stadium to assist in the event that it became trapped once more.
Git was then transported to a hospital nearby, while Gunie was sent off for his challenge on the wet grass.
