One person remains in a life-threatening condition after a suspected drive-by shooting on Coldharbour Lane in Brixton, south London – three others were also taken to hospital
Four people have been rushed to hospital following a ‘drive-by’ shooting in South London, leaving one person battling for their life. Police were alerted at 1.15am on Saturday, May 2, to multiple gunshots being discharged from a vehicle on Coldharbour Lane, Brixton. Upon arrival, they discovered four victims suffering from gunshot injuries.
A 25 year old is currently in a critical condition. Three others, aged 21, 47 and 70, were also transported to the hospital. Their injuries have been evaluated as neither life-threatening nor life-altering.
Images from the scene depict forensic officers meticulously examining the cordoned-off area, reports MyLondon.
Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo, who is spearheading the investigation, stated: “We understand how concerning this incident will be for the local community and want to reassure residents that officers are working at pace to identify those responsible.”
“This was an act of indiscriminate violence, and we will work relentlessly to bring the suspects to justice. It is vital that anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist the investigation comes forward.
“Local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days. If you have any concerns, please speak to officers.”
Anyone possessing information or footage that could aid the police is urged to contact 101, quoting CAD 557/2May. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
