Bigfoot hunters fear the legendary hairy beast is raising a family of its own. It is claimed the mythical 10ft creature has been spotted in the forests of Ohio in the US, where he was seen almost 50 years ago.
But believers fear he is rearing young and a whole family of Sasquatches is moving into the region after a brutal winter drove them from their habitat. Pictures of hulking 17 inch footprints have been shared online, fuelling suspicions he is raising a brood.
Mike Miller, co-founder of the Ohio Nightstalkers Bigfoot Research Group, said: “It could be rearing young in that area.”
Most of the footprints were spotted between Akron and Youngstown in Portage County. Eyewitnesses told local media they had seen creature between 6 and 10ft tall completely covered in dark fur.
We previously reported how eight sightings were reported in the area in just one week back in March. The last reports of mass sightings in one area came in 1978, which came after one of the worst winters in US history and saw a “superbomb” snowstorm.
Mike told local media his theory is that this year’s winter – which saw dual snowstorms swept across the country in just one month – may have flooded the Sasquatch’s habitat, forcing it closer to civilization.
He even captured recordings of apparent howls he claims don’t match any “known animal in North America.” He told local Fox8: “It could be rearing young in that area or it’s just, you know, you’re in their area and they want you to go.
“Some of those screams pegged higher than a baboon on the spectograph, and that is evidence.”
A pair of hikers who claim to have seen the beast claims it turned with its shoulders, rather than its neck. One of them said: “I know what I saw, but I don’t know what I saw.”
Jeremiah Byron, host of the Bigfoot Society podcast, said: “That’s a very important detail which hardcore Bigfooters will realize that that’s pretty crazy.”
The first reported sighting to the Bigfoot Mapping Project occurred on March 6. A witness was out in the field when they claimed to have a face-to-face encounter with a 9ft-tall, brown-haired Sasquatch.
A post on social media read: “The terrifying thing is that this happened in the broad daylight at 12:23 p.m.”
Last year, Edward Henry and his 12-year-old son claim they saw Bigfoot’s bum during a woodland fishing trip.
