Arne Slot has made a decision on his future having been under pressure at Liverpool after they suffered a 3-2 loss to Manchester United on Sunday, leaving them fourth in the Premier League table
Arne Slot is set to remain at Liverpool despite mounting pressure and approaches from Dutch heavyweights Ajax. The Dutchman has suffered through an extremely challenging second season at Anfield following his success in guiding the Reds to Premier League glory last campaign.
Sunday’s 3-2 loss to arch-rivals Manchester United leaves Liverpool languishing in fourth place and trailing pacesetters Arsenal by 18 points. Liverpool’s poor run of results has led to questions being raised about Slot’s future at the club.
However, it seems he will not be departing anytime soon. Reports from Dutch media outlets suggest Ajax had shown interest in bringing Slot back to his homeland as they search for a permanent successor to Fred Grim.

It’s understood the Eredivisie outfit made an approach for Slot but were swiftly knocked back. The 47-year-old remains firmly established at Anfield and has little appetite for a switch to Ajax at this point in his managerial journey.
His deal on Merseyside runs until 2027. Earlier reports have indicated that Anfield bosses are determined to back Slot and will afford him the opportunity to reverse the club’s fortunes.
Offering his perspective on the situation, former Liverpool favourite Dietmar Hamann commented: “I’ve heard that Arne Slot will be there next season. I think there’s a case to be made that maybe a change of manager should happen or should have happened.
“But Liverpool have always been very loyal to their managers. He won the league last season of course so I think it’s a decision I can live with, and I think most fans can live with, if they have a decent finish to the season.
“Then obviously, you need to see what’s happening in the summer after the World Cup with players going, obviously Andy Robertson leaving, Mohamed Salah leaving. But yeah, I think it’s a decision that is understandable.
“For probably the first time in a long time Liverpool fans are split, it’s a very knowledgeable fan base and Liverpool doesn’t usually sack managers. That’s obviously changed in the last 10 or 12 years because the game has changed and managers have to leave quicker than they did 20 or 25 years ago.
“But usually when the fan base turns, it’s a matter of time before the manager has to go. Now with Arne Slot, I think it’s split because of what he’s done last season. I think it’s probably the first time in a long time that it’s as split as it’s ever been.”
