Film followers flock to Devil Wears Prada 2 and Michael as Odeon celebrates busiest weekend of the yr

Odeon has celebrated its busiest weekend of the year as film fans flocked to The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Michael over the bank holiday.

The UK’s largest cinema chain said that half a million customers visited its venues over the long weekend.

Odeon said that the sequel to the 2006 comedy-drama, starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, alongside the Michael Jackson biopic, accounted for more than 70 per cent of tickets sold.

It was the chain’s busiest Sunday since the release of Disney’s animated film Moana 2 in November 2024.

Suzie Welch, the managing director of the group’s 100 cinemas in the UK and Ireland, said 2026 was ‘off to a strong start’.
