An Arizona sheriff who has been at the forefront of the search for NBC journalist Savannah Guthrie’s mother strongly disputed FBI Director Kash Patel’s claims of being “kept out” of the investigation.
Patel, appearing on Tuesday’s episode of the “Hang Out with Sean Hannity” podcast, accused Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos and his associates of waiting too long to engage the FBI in the Feb. 1 disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, 84.

“The first 48 hours of anyone’s disappearance are most critical,” he said. “It’s a state and local law enforcement matter. What we, the FBI, do is say, ‘Hey, we’re here to help. What do you need? What can we do?’ And for four days, we were kept out of the investigation.”
