Former Big Brother star Alex Sibley has been voted in as a Reform councillor in the local elections. The unrecognisable fan favourite swapped his reality TV fame for a remarkably different career, claiming victory in a London ward this morning.

Running under the Reform banner, he secured the Emerson Park seat in Havering, east London, with 1,255 votes, narrowly behind fellow Reform candidate David Johnson on 1,306.

The 47 year old first appeared on screens in series three of Big Brother back in 2002, but 24 years on, he’s barely recognisable and has firmly thrown his weight behind Nigel Farage.

Alex previously shared a snap of himself alongside running mate David Johnson, both sporting blue election rosettes on their jackets. He captioned the post: “It’s Official. 7th May 2026. With a combined age of 126 years old and no degree from Oxford or Cambridge in Politics, we are Emerson Park candidates for Havering and Reform UK.”

The former reality star faced competition from Ghazala Ansari for the Greens, Balwinder Singh Khaira for Labour, and a joint Tory ticket from Bernice Robinson and Dominic Noel Swan.

Speaking in Havering, Farage declared he was “thrilled and delighted” with his party’s local election performance. “I can honestly say you are witnessing an historic shift in British politics. This (Reform UK) is now the most national of all parties.”

Life took an unexpected twist for Alex following his stint in the famous house. After becoming fixated with cleanliness during his 2002 appearance, cleaning giant Domestos signed up the model for television commercials, netting him £250,000.

Alex withdrew from public life in 2004 after a car incident, which was abandoned in 2006 due to a lack of evidence. He began working in affordable housing. In 2020, Alex acknowledged his television career had been destroyed following the devastating car accident.

At the time, he revealed he was keen to appear on I’m A Celebrity and resume his career in the industry. The ex-model secured third place on Big Brother and subsequently won profitable television contracts, including a live programme on Nickelodeon.

Another moment in the Big Brother house that sparked chatter was between Alison Hammond and Alex. Alison loved to wind up her somewhat highly strung housemate, Alex. And he almost imploded with horror when she claimed she’d taken a wee in the communal shower.

Branding her “disgusting”, he nominated her for eviction as punishment and she ended up getting the boot after receiving just 1,000 more votes than him in Big Brother’s tightest vote ever.

“That Alex did my head in, he really did,” she later said, clearly baring a grudge He was a little bit too fussy. I thought I was really uptight about things. But Alex is at least 50 per cent worse. He takes things too far. He should chill out more.

“With him around you even get scared if you don’t shut the door or something’s not clean. You worry that he’s going to find out.”
