Double tragedy after mum and child discovered useless as home sealed off and cops swarm

The sudden deaths of a woman and her newborn baby are being investigated by police. Tragedy struck in Carrick-on-Suir, rural Co Tipperary earlier today.

Insiders have informed told Belfast Live that gardai looking into the dreadful incident suspect the woman may have died during childbirth overnight. It’s believed the woman’s partner found the tragic scene in a bathroom in their home in the town at around 1pm today.

Sources indicate the couple, originally from eastern Europe, have only been residing in the town for a relatively brief period. Although the gardai investigation is still in its early stages, officers reportedly believe the deaths of the mother and her infant daughter to be a heartbreaking incident.

The property has been cordoned off and a comprehensive Garda investigation is now in progress.

A Garda spokeswoman told the Irish Mirror: “Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of an incident in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary this afternoon Friday 8th May 2026.”

Gardai have also set up an incident room and plan to assign a family liaison officer.
