One of Britain’s poshest shops is flogging a new biscuit for a whopping £30. Fortnum & Mason is launching its own Willy Wonka-style biscuit emporium next week for the sweet treats.

And to mark the opening of the Biscuitorium at its flagship central London store they have unveiled the Whoppalossus.

The biccie, retailing at £29.95, weighs 400g. It comes in pistachio and raspberry or marshmallow and salted almond caramel flavours.

Holly Warren, from Fortnum & Mason, said: “At Fortnum’s, biscuits have always held a special place in our hearts.

“The Biscuitorium is a space where we can celebrate both our heritage and our curiosity for new ideas, from perfecting much-loved classics to introducing playful innovations.

“We wanted to create something truly immersive that invites customers to explore, discover and, most importantly, indulge in the very best of biscuit craftsmanship.”

The Whoppalossus is the largest biscuit ever made by Fortnum’s and is 15.5cm in diameter.

It is designed to be sliced or broken apart.

Fans flocking to the Biscuitorium can also buy a “Made in Piccadilly” range of sandwich biscuits.

There is also a Biscuit Library for customers to discover their new favourite dunkers with 12 different flavour profiles like Buttery & Traditional, Dark & Decadent and Gluten‑Free & Vegan.

Fortnum, a shopping hotspot for the royal family, has also introduced its first Biscuits for Drinks collection to pair with booze such as Yuzu & Pink Peppercorn and Vanilla & Smoked Sea Salt flavours.
