A pop star sensation has tragically died in a horrific car crash after leaving a sold-out gig.

Izac Bruno Coni Silva, better known by his stage name Zau O Pássaro, was fatally injured when the vehicle he was travelling in collided with a stationary lorry on the hard shoulder of a major motorway.

The 27-year-old performer, who leaves behind a wife and two young daughters, had just entertained a full house in Barreiras, Brazil, on Sunday (May 3) night. He met his untimely end while journeying home on the BR-116 motorway in Feira de Santana in the early morning hours.

According to the Federal Highway Police, the accident occurred shortly after 7am when the car, driven by a businessman and heading towards Salvador, hit the side of the parked HGV.

The lorry, which was transporting televisions, remained unscathed and the driver avoided injury. Zau O Pássaro was trapped in the wreckage and firefighters had to extricate him.

He was declared dead at the scene and his body was later moved to a nearby mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Three other passengers in the car were injured and rushed to hospital.

One survivor was transferred to a private facility and remains in a serious condition, while the other two are receiving treatment at the public Clériston Andrade General Hospital, one in intensive care in an extremely critical state and the other in a general ward.

The Civil Police are probing the exact circumstances surrounding the collision.

In March, he inked a new recording contract with Som Music, as reported by NeedToKnow.
