Monika Kubasiewicz, 33, had only been living at their house in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary for a few months when she and her newborn baby daughter were tragically found dead by her partner
These are the first images of the young mother who gardaí believe perished while giving birth to her baby daughter.
Polish citizen Monika Kubasiewicz, aged 33, had been residing at the property in Carrick-on-Suir in Co Tipperary for just a few months when she tragically died in the early hours of Friday.
Her remains and those of her newborn daughter were discovered by her heartbroken partner in a bathroom at their home on Blackthorn Close, Greenhill Village, at approximately 1pm, though investigators suspect they had perished several hours beforehand. A post-mortem examination on the young mother was conducted on Friday and it is understood gardaí are convinced there was no criminal involvement in her death.
Officers also suspect her newborn child died during labour, but are awaiting post-mortem results scheduled for later this week, reports the Irish Mirror.
Gardaí stated: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident at a domestic residence in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary this Friday afternoon 8th May 2026.
“A woman in her 30s and an infant were pronounced deceased at the scene. The scene remains preserved for examination. A post-mortem examination will take place, which will determine the course of the investigation.”
It is understood Ms Kubasiewicz had relocated to the estate with her partner and their two young children, aged just four and three, approximately three months prior.
The family had previously resided in and operated a shop in Clonmel, also in Tipperary, but lost their business when Covid-19 hit in early 2020.
They subsequently spent some time in emergency housing before relocating to the property in Carrick-on-Suir.
Local Sinn Féin councillor David Dunne has urged individuals not to speculate about the tragic incident.
He posted on Facebook: “There has been a tragedy in Carrick-on-Suir. I would ask people not to speculate on what happened and not to share anything they are hearing or has been sent to them.”
Residents of the estate have been left stunned and heartbroken by the deaths. They said Ms Kubasiewicz was a familiar face in the area and the family was well-liked.
