Oasis could compete for the biggest honour in Hollywood with their upcoming documentary film, its claimed. Insiders in LA reckon brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher will likely be put forward for Oscar consideration for best documentary film with their reunion movie.

It’s believed Disney Studios want to enter the film – directed by Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight – for next year’s Academy Awards.

Disney Plus announced that the doc will have a limited release on IMAX screens and other cinemas, which makes the Gallaghers eligible for Tinseltown glory.

Insiders claim the footage capturing Liam and Noel’s first face to face meet after agreeing to reunite is “mesmerising”.

The film reportedly explores how the warring siblings overcame their differences with the encouragement of mum Peggy and Liam’s partner Debbie Gwyther.

The source said: “Oasis enjoyed the mother of comebacks last year and now they are in contention for a night at the Oscars.

“Disney don’t just think that the film will do well at cinemas later this year, but also has a chance of picking up some major awards love.

“The band’s reunion was remarkable and for this all to be caught on camera is terrifically unusual and rare.

“It really gives Noel and Liam a really great opportunity to celebrate the comeback in a huge way.”

Disney has confirmed they will release the two hour film with a limited theatrical run on September 11.

It will then stream exclusively on Disney+ internationally later this year.

Eric Schrier, Disney’s president of direct-to-consumer international originals, added “Opportunities like this are incredibly rare. The film is an intimate story of reconciliation, the power of music, and Oasis, one of the most successful and influential acts of all time.”
