In a social media post, Major General Reza stated that the primary objective of the Israeli regime is to spark conflict among regional countries in order to extend its control over their resources and territories. He cautioned Muslim countries that involvement in the regime’s perilous project comes with a hefty price tag and will have grave consequences.
He emphasised that this is particularly true for countries that are driven by greed to exceed their capabilities, urging them to exercise the utmost vigilance and insight. His warning came amid escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, in the midst of the ongoing US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran. The conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran entered its 73rd day on Monday, after President Donald Trump dismissed Iran’s latest proposal to cease hostilities. The rejection arrived late on Sunday, without any explanation, despite recent indications from Washington of a willingness to reopen negotiations, reports the Express.
Iran’s response centred on halting hostilities across all fronts – especially in Lebanon – and demanded the lifting of the naval blockade and the removal of US and international sanctions, while retaining control over its nuclear programme and foreign policy.
In the wake of Trump’s remarks, Brent crude prices climbed 2.69 percent to $104.01 per barrel as of 23:36 GMT on Sunday.
Trump dismissed Iran’s response to Washington’s proposal as “totally unacceptable,” while Iranian state media retorted that the US plan was tantamount to “Iran’s surrender to Trump’s greed.”
Tensions in the region heightened further on Sunday, with the United Arab Emirates reporting that it had intercepted two drones launched from Iran.
Qatar condemned a drone strike on a cargo ship travelling from Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait announced that its air defences had responded to hostile drones entering its airspace.
