Marcus Rashford delivered the knockout blow to end Real Madrid’s La Liga hopes after a week of civil war in Los Blancos’ camp.

Barcelona won their second consecutive La Liga title during El Clasico, beating their bitter rivals 2-0 at the Camp Nou. Rashford’s delightful free-kick in the opening ten minutes put Barca on the front foot, before Ferran Torres doubled their lead soon after.

And while he was central to their win on Sunday evening, there are still questions about Rashford’s future at Barcelona. Speaking to Daily Star Sport , Terry Gibson, who was on comms for Premier Sports, admitted it’s tough to call his future.

“I still don’t know, if I’m being honest,” he admitted when asked if he’ll be a Barca player next season. “Every now and then I think it’s yes, and then every now and then I think, ‘Why is he not starting in this game?’

“If Raphinha’s missing, Yamal’s missing, and he’s still on the bench, it does leave me thinking: are they going to spend the money on him when there are other positions that need filling if he’s not going to be a regular starter?

“And it’s hard to be a regular starter. You’ve got Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Lewandowski at the moment – or Ferran Torres playing up front.

“But when Yamal and Raphinha are injured and he’s not a first-choice pick, it does leave me now at the moment to think: will they go ahead with the deal unless it’s a loan deal?

“What I would say about Marcus Rashford is he’s been hugely important this season. In the first half of the season when players were injured, he was playing and playing well. Recently his impact has been off the bench.

“He looks a hugely popular member of the squad. You can see that when he’s involved in scoring or creating a goal. And he looks happy.

“It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out because Barcelona do need other positions filling. They’re only going to have a certain amount of money to spend.

“You have to remember this year Real Madrid spent about €160 million. Barcelona spent €27.5 million.

“They brought a goalkeeper in and they spent €2.5 million on Rooney Bardghji from Copenhagen. The little money they have really wisely, and I think they do need a centre-forward and a centre-back.

“Lewandowski is now 37 or 38. The question is: does the Marcus Rashford transfer fee impact them being able to bring in the obvious players they do need? So I think that’s the big question for Barcelona.

“I’m sure Rashford wants to stay. He looks really happy, he’s playing well.”

Rashford is only loan in Spain after a falling out with ex-United boss Ruben Amorim. And since his loan move to Catalonia, Amorim has been sacked by United – potentially offering a route back into the first-team at Old Trafford.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have the option to turn his loan stay into a permanent one to the tune of €30m.
