Staffordshire Police has released a description of the suspect as the hunt for the attacker intensifies. A man in his 60s has been left fighting for his life in hospital
A man has been knifed near a Staffordshire golf club as the police helicopter was deployed.
The air ambulance touched down in Stafford on Thursday evening as a ‘substantial police presence’ swarmed the area. Now Staffordshire Police has released a description of the suspect as the hunt for the attacker intensifies. Meanwhile the stabbing victim, a man in his 60s, has been left fighting for his life in hospital.
Officers were dispatched at 7pm on Thursday (May 14) following ‘reports of violence’ close to the golf club on Newport Road. Officers say the victim had been walking in the Castlefields area from Redgrave Drive towards Stafford Castle when he was approached from behind by a man and attacked.
He was subsequently discovered on a bench by a member of the public who alerted authorities. West Midlands Ambulance Service dispatched the air ambulance while the force deployed the National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter.
A spokesperson for the constabulary said: “The victim was taken to hospital by land ambulance. He remains in a critical condition in hospital. There is currently a large police presence at the scene as officers conduct inquiries as part of our investigation.”, reports Stoke on Trent Live.
The suspect is described as being in his mid to late 20s, of an average build and wearing dark clothing.
Witnesses should call 101 and quote incident 641 of May 14.
