Spaghetti house shuts down after 70 years – need to know
- London’s beloved Spaghetti House chain has collapsed into administration after 70 years, shutting all five restaurants across the capital.
- The family-run Italian eatery expressed “deepest gratitude” to loyal customers as administrators took control of the business. Lavval Restaurants Limited entered administration on May 6, 2026, according to the London Gazette.
- Founded by Simone Lavarini and Lorenzo Fraquelli in the 1950s, the chain claimed to be London’s oldest family-run Italian restaurant. It operated locations in Marble Arch, Carnaby Street, Oxford Street, Kensington, and Cranbourn Street.
- The restaurant pioneered authentic Italian dining when “spaghetti came from a can, often served on toast.” Their inaugural slogan was simply: “Spaghetti, but not on toast.”
- Customers consistently praised the chain with a 4.4-star Google rating. One reviewer raved: “Everything is homemade, the bread is divine, and the creamy salmon tagliatelle is to die for.”
- The reasons behind the closure remain undisclosed as The Daily Star seeks comment from the restaurant.
