Terrifying second large cobra discovered lurking inside bathroom bowl earlier than rising up

Footage captured in Salvador Benedicto in the Philippines shows a cobra emerging from inside a toilet bowl, leaving a stunned resident keeping a safe distance.

King cobra emerges from toilet in Philippines hotel resort

This is the startling moment a cobra was found lurking inside a toilet in the Philippines. The video, captured in Salvador Benedicto on April 28, shows 26-year-old Dranreb Teodosio warily poking the toilet bowl with a wooden stick after noticing something moving within.

Seconds later, a young cobra gradually slithers out from the toilet, raising its head as the shocked resident maintains a safe distance. The reptile was found inside a toilet bowl at a private resort in Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental.

Upon discovery, Teodosio, immediately reported the matter to resort staff. Officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) were later summoned to safely capture the snake.

Ma. Gina Gerangay, superintendent of Northern Negros Natural Park, said the cobra may have slithered into the toilet seeking a cooler spot as temperatures climbed, Proud Bisaya Bai reported. This incident could’ve had more serious consequences.

Last year, a bloke was left battling for his life after a python bit him on the privates while he was using the loo, causing severe blood loss. Thai man Atthaporn Boonmakchuay, 38, was ambushed by the massive snake in the bathroom of his home in Chachoengsao province, east of Bangkok.

Reports suggest that he felt a sudden sharp pain and reached down, only to discover the python’s jaws clamped onto his manhood. In a state of panic, Atthaporn shouted for his wife and wrestled to free himself from the 11-foot beast.

Before passing out, he managed to tie a rope around the snake’s head and secure it to the bathroom door to stop it from slithering away. Emergency services were quick on the scene and rushed him to hospital, where he received treatment for significant blood loss, the Daily Star previously reported.

Video footage from the scene shows rescue teams working to remove the python from the toilet’s plumbing, even resorting to hammers to dismantle parts of the system. The snake was eventually captured, bagged securely, and later released back into the wild, according to local news outlet Bangpakong News.

Officials reckon the python made its way into the house by swimming up through the pipes. Finding a snake in your toilet is extraordinarily rare.

Even in places with large snake populations, professionals say it is not an everyday call-out. Snake catchers in high-risk areas such as Brisbane, Australia, for example, may only remove a handful from toilets each year.
