Strippers in Montreal has found themselves at the centre of an F1 row, with many workers threatning to strike on what could be the biggest working day of the year
F1 has found itself at the centre of a row that could see strippers walk off the job on one of the busiest nights of the year.
Strippers in Montreal are demanding they are recognised as employees entitled to the same protections as other workers ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix. And they are set to strike during race weekend in an attempt to secure better conditions.
In Montreal, strippers are not paid a salary, and instead rely on tips to earn a living. And one stripper based in the city admitted said she’ll pay anywhere from $40 to $100 per night to dance.

Speaking to the Montreal Gazette, she said: “It happens to every worker every year that we’ll go home and find ourselves in the red.
“Since we’re not salaried employees, we don’t have access to the protections that other workers usually have.
The stripper, who is a member of the Comité autonome du travail du sexe (CATS), the group planning the strike, has also been off work injured without pay; if she was a regular employee, provincial labour rules would entitle her to paid leave.
F1 will resume at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve next weekend, with teenage sensation Kimi Antonelli looking to continue his winning streak.
The young Italian has won the last three Grands Prix to establish a 20-point lead over Mercedes team-mate George Russell in the World Drivers’ Championship. Russell won in Canada last time out, and will be hoping for a similar result this time.
However, it might not be the cruise to victory Mercedes will be hoping for as McLaren proved to be back to their best in Miami. Lando Norris pushed Antonelli hard in the battle for victory after their latest upgrades.
