Yulixa Consuelo Toloza’s close friend went to pick her up from a cosmetic surgery clinic in Bogotá, Colombia, but staff said she had already left – before CCTV footage told a very different story
A liposuction patient was captured on camera being hauled into a vehicle six days before her body was discovered in a remote location.
Yulixa Consuelo Toloza underwent laser lipolysis at a clinic on Wednesday (May 13). Following the treatment, the close mate who had accompanied her came back to discover she had vanished. Personnel informed the friend that Yulixa, 52, had departed by herself.
Nevertheless, CCTV material subsequently surfaced showing two men carrying Yulixa, who seemed lifeless, into a vehicle in Bogotá, Colombia. One witness later remembered: “She was extremely pale, her skin and lips were purple – she looked like a dead person.”
The motor seen in the footage was discovered abandoned in Cúcuta, close to the Venezuelan border, on Monday (May 18).
That same day, Venezuelan nationals Jesús Hernández Morales and Kelvis Sequera Delgado were detained. They are thought to have driven the motor from Bogotá to Cúcuta.
Yulixa’s body was discovered in a rural area of Apulo on Tuesday (May 19), allegedly following intelligence supplied by the detained suspects.
Hours afterwards, the arrests of three additional individuals in Venezuela were confirmed, as reported by NeedToKnow.
Those apprehended were clinic proprietor María Fernanda Delgado Hernández, her partner Edinson José Torres Sarmiento, and Eduardo David Ramos, who purportedly performed the procedure.
Delgado, 30, and Torres, 40, originally hail from Guanare, Venezuela, and were travelling with their two children and Delgado’s mother when they were intercepted by authorities.
The alleged surgeon, also Venezuelan, had reportedly been residing in Colombia for seven years.
The clinic, Beauty Láser M.L., marketed itself as a “hair salon and other beauty treatments” establishment. It promoted liposuction packages beginning at 3.6m COP (£712).
However, authorities state it lacked authorisation to perform such invasive operations, and it has now been closed down.
Her cousin Morelia Dávila told local media: “She never mentioned anything about cosmetic surgery.”
Bogotá mayor Carlos Fernando Galán said: “This was not a case of medical negligence – it was a murder.”
Yulixa leaves behind her mother and a brother who resides in the US.
