Tripsmiths and TS Travel entered administration on May 14, but existing customer bookings will continue to be honoured and all future holidays are going ahead as normal
A UK tourism company, which had been running numerous holiday packages, has entered administration.
Tripsmiths and TS Travel had been offering holidaymakers a vast range of adventures to some of the world’s most captivating destinations, from French vineyard tours and African safaris to scenic breaks around Italy’s Lake Garda and vibrant, culture-packed city escapes.
The companies had also been welcoming guests north of the border, offering tours throughout the Highlands, trips to the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, and even rides on the Jacobite steam train.
That specific experience featured a talk with former BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, plus the chance to take part in a “commando tour” led by ex-Royal Marine Monty Hall. Yet both firms have now entered administration.
It has been confirmed that the company’s assets and operations have since been purchased, reports the Express.
According to Travel Weekly, The Travel Network Group has bought TS Travel and Tripsmiths out of administration. The publication stated that all existing bookings are being honoured and current and future tours are also proceeding as planned.
A spokesperson told The Herald: “Tripsmiths Limited and TS Travel Limited entered administration on May 14, with Michael Solomons and Andrew Pear of Moorfields appointed as joint administrators.
“Following their appointment, the joint administrators completed a sale of the company’s business and assets. The purchaser has confirmed that existing customer bookings will continue to be honoured and all future holidays are going ahead as normal.”
The spokesperson also stated: “All customer monies are held securely in a trust account and guaranteed by the Travel Trust Association.
“In connection with the transaction, employees of the companies transferred to the purchaser pursuant to TUPE regulations.”
TS Tours, which trades under the name TS Travel, declared on its website: “We know what makes a great travel experience and every one of our trips has been hand-crafted in-house by us – combining unique insights, exclusive access and memorable experiences.”
It further highlighted that “when you add to this the opportunity to travel in the company of inspirational experts” such as Kate Adie, Martin Bell, Oz Clarke and Prue Leith, “then you have a trip to write home about”.
