A 16-year-old boy has been left seriously wounded following a terrifying machete attack in broad daylight over the Bank Holiday weekend. The teenager was rushed to hospital with severe injuries to his chest and face after being knifed in Dudley, West Midlands on Saturday, May 23.
Emergency services dashed to the scene on Duncan Edwards Close after violence broke out around 2pm involving a group brandishing machetes. Police report that the victim had been strolling in the area when he was approached by two young lads on a moped.
They savagely assaulted him before making their escape from the scene, and detectives have now initiated a manhunt for the knife-wielding attackers.
West Midlands Police has obtained CCTV and mobile phone footage and are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying those involved.
The boy is reported to be in a serious but stable condition in hospital after undergoing emergency surgery.
Detective Inspector Joe Davenport, from the force’s Major Crime Unit, stated: “This was an horrific attack in the middle of the day and it could easily have resulted in this boy losing his life.
“We’ve been working tirelessly since then to understand exactly what happened, and who was responsible, and I’d urge anyone with information to get in touch with as soon as possible.”
Additional patrols are being conducted in the area today and the force has also established a dedicated web portal.
