A 79-year-old man has been arrested on five indecent exposure charges after neighbours said he “consistently” exposed himself in shared areas as he claimed he had “a right”
An elderly man has been arrested on five indecent exposure charges. Neighbours at his apartment complex reported repeated incidents in which he “consistently” exposed himself in shared areas.
Tyrone James Causey, 79, sparked outrage in his neighbourhood. Officers reportedly said residents had become “increasingly concerned and frustrated with his continued behaviour”.
Causey was reportedly arrested on five charges on May 22 in Hollywood, Florida, USA. According to a report by Hollywood Police Department officer Savannah Hutcheson, Causey was said to regularly walk through common areas and make “lewd gestures”.
Among alleged sickening behaviours, Causey is accused of “thrusting his penis” at a woman’s doorbell camera.
When Hutcheson went to speak to him, she wrote that Causey answered the door wearing a “G-string thong”. Police reportedly said Causey told the officer he believed he was acting within the law.
Causey further claimed he had “a right to walk around naked under Florida Statute 800.001”, Local 10 reported. He further mentioned that his behaviour was “only illegal in parks, not in public”.
Hutcheson wrote that she corrected him, explaining it is illegal “to walk around in public exposing himself”. The report also alleges Causey said he walked around naked “because he is allowed to and that he did not know he was being filmed”, according to Local 10.
Hutcheson reportedly wrote that during their interaction he put on lipstick, “began touching his penis” and told her to “jump rope for me, baby doll”. Police said they located five neighbours who reported seeing Causey expose himself, which formed the basis for five charges.
The allegations were initially treated as felony counts for a second or subsequent offence, citing a 1987 indecent exposure arrest and a citation connected to the prior call-out, as per Local 10. However, Broward County court records indicate a judge found probable cause only for standard misdemeanour charges.
Causey has also been in trouble for a separate incident earlier this year. According to a post on Facebook by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, in March 2026, Causey was apprehended following a high-speed chase in the Florida Keys.
He was accused of driving at more than 100mph through a construction zone and was charged with reckless driving and speeding.
In the UK, public nudity on its own is not automatically a criminal offence, but it can become illegal if it causes, or is intended to cause, “harassment, alarm or distress”.
